EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) — A KRDO13 viewer has shared dashcam video of the incident, in which a woman was struck by a vehicle in the parking lot after leaving the Bruno Mars concert at Falcon Stadium on Sunday, Sept. 27.
Michelle Pitts says she suffered whiplash, torn ligaments, a pulled pelvis, hairline rib fractures and road rash across her body after being swept beneath the vehicle. Pitts says the vehicle narrowly missed hitting her daughter and her daughter’s friend.
Witnesses leaving the concert, including children, were shaken up.
“[My son] had a very clear viewing of the woman stuck under the SUV, and he said it makes him sick to his stomach,” said Britney Treadaway, who witnessed the crash along with her son.
Over a week later, the alleged victim, Pitts, is still searching for answers after she tells KRDO13 she’s spoken with multiple law enforcement agencies and the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) to no avail.
“Scariest thing I’ve ever been through, it was. It was scary being under somebody’s car,” Pitts said.
Pitts told KRDO13 she went to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), which referred her to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, which referred her to USAFA.
Pitts said she briefly spoke to someone at USAFA on Wednesday, Sept. 30, who could not find an incident report but would keep looking. She said she has not heard back yet.
USAFA told KRDO13 in a statement last week that “Legacy EMS provided dedicated on-site ambulance and medical services for the event.”
Legacy EMS, which says it responded to the incident, told KRDO13 they are willing and able to assist Pitts and any law enforcement agencies in an investigation. Pitts is working to get in contact with them.
CSPD says incidents that occur on the Air Force Academy fall under the jurisdiction of the United States Air Force Security Forces.
